Okibi - Swag Selection Vol. 1

Swag Selection Vol. 1 is an impromptu mixset of grimey, bass-heavy hip-hop and juke beats. Selected by Okibi, with an eclectic assortment of cuts, including artists such as Drake, Wheez-ie and Africa Hitech, Swag Selection Vol. 1 is a half hour mix of proper brukout business. Crank this one up while you're driving slow. Got nuff swag? Download via the Union Sound System podcast.

Drake - Lord Knows ft. Rick Ross
Cadenza - The Darkest Hype (Philip D. Kick remix)
Slick Shoota - Pow Riddim
Brenmar - So High (Distal Remix)

The Weeknd - The Knowing

Here's the first official music video from The Weeknd, and it's definitely not what I expected it to be. The whole film seems to be an allusion to the usurping of H.I.M. Selassie I and his loss of power in Ethiopia - except with aliens and spaceships and planets rending into two. The female character seems to represent Ethiopia, with The Weekend playing the part of H.I.M. Selassie I. The cut and paste, sliding, animated visuals make for a really, really unique video. It's not for everyone, but it's definitely original.

ASAP Rocky - Purple Swag

Really feeling the beats coming out of the A$AP camp. 'Purple Swag' rolls along real, real slow. Check it.

BADBADNOTGOOD - Fall In Love

Here's a wicked cover of J Dilla's 'Fall In Love' beat, by Canadian live hip-hop outfit, BADBADNOTGOOD. Can't get enough of these guys. Really feeling the neo soul and jazz vibes now that winter is pretty much here.

Electric Dreams - 12 November 2011

Union Sound System presents... Electric Dreams with AUTOMATON (live set), Joey Chaos (live set), Phrase (dubwise DJ set) and myself (hip-hop DJ set). Tickets available now at Mavens Vintage. Checkout the Facebook event page for more details.

BADBADNOTGOOD x Tyler, The Creator - Seven

All about the jam sessions. Feeling the bleak live beats and Tyler's signature style. Check it!

AUTOMATON - Do Androids Dream of Electric Dub? (Live Jam)

Here's a video clip of Elliott Langley and I jamming out on some live p.a. AUTOMATON future dub business. Keep it locked for details on our forthcoming album, Post-Human, coming this winter on Union Sound System.

The Weeknd - Thursday [Free Download]

I am so stoked for this one! House of Balloons has been on constant rotation since I first picked it up a few months back. If Thursday (the second instalment of a three part mixtape series) is anything like its predecessor, it's bound to be sick. Download Thursday here and be sure to checkout The Weeknd's website.

Lunice - Glow

Here's the official video to Lunice's 'Glow'. Lush beats paired with some smokey lighting effects make for a good introduction to his One Hunnd EP. Available now on LuckyMe - check it.

Wugazi - Sleep Rules Everything Around Me [Free Download]

I don't usually post a lot of mashup tracks, but this goes beyond most simple r&b house cuts. Cecil Otter and Swiss Andy have mixed together thirteen tracks combining DC post-hardcore legends, Fugazi, and NY hip-hop legends, The Wu-Tang Clan. The result is Wugazi, and with choice tracks like 'Sleep Rules Everything Around Me', 13 Chambers is quite the mashup project.

Grab the full album via direct download.

MellowHype - 64

Some more weirdness from the Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All crew. MellowHype, aka Hodgy Beats and Left Brain, bring the blasphemy and horror movie cliches in this one. Not the tightest verses compared to some of the other tunes on BlackenedWhite, but the beat is solid and the visuals a bit bizarre. Download the entire BlackenedWhite album for free via Mediafire.

Distal - URB Presents: Distal

Here's a fresh mixset from one of my favourite producers at the moment, Distal. Featuring cuts from Embassy Recordings, Grizzly, Ghettophiles, and a few exclusives to boot.

Subreachers – City Drive 3am (Embassy Recordings)
Mak – Bahasa ( Embassy Recordings )

Distal – Venom

Tokimonsta - LOVEWITHSOUND

I couldn't help but post this fresh mix from Tokimonsta. Part of Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder label, she's been serving up some amazing tunes as of late. I'm a big, big fan of her reworking of Telepopmusik's 'Breathe' into a sultry, spacey midtempo cut. LOVEWITHSOUND is presented by streetwear boutique, Oki-ni, and features an eerie and romantic themed selection of tunes. Perfect for late night chilling.

Tyler, The Creator - She ft. Frank Ocean

If you listen to current hip-hop, you've definitely heard about Tyler, The Creator and OFWGKTA (Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All). Not sure why MTV won't play this one; it's damn creepy for sure, but no weirder than 'Yonkers'. The video for 'She' is a good twist on the old suburban love story motif, with Tyler playing the deranged, underwear-sniffing stalker. These guys are nothing but controversial, but at the least you can appreciate their DIY ethic. GOLF WANG. Check it out.

The Notorious B.I.G. - Everyday Struggle

Alright, time for some classic hip-hop ish. Definitely feeling some Notorious B.I.G. right about now. Life feels like a constant struggle sometimes. Big ups all the people hustlin' to survive. Stay up!

Massive Attack - Angel (Flying Lotus Remix)

Flying Lotus recently released a slew of new tunes onto his SoundCloud page. None of them are downloadable but you can stream a number of fresh remixes and originals. My pick was this remix of 'Angel' by Massive Attack. Check it!

St. Kelly - Days Like Today

Here's a summer jam from a few years back by my boy, St. Kelly. Anyone from the Westshore will know this one. Haven't heard much in the way of verses from St. Kelly lately, but he's been producing for some big names from across the border. This is off his debut album, Tip of the Iceberg, self released in 2006. Pretty sure you can still cop it in and around Victoria.

Foreign Beggars & Lazer Sword - What's Good

Such a wicked collabo. Solid verses from the Beggars and quality future-step production from Lazer Sword. Definitely my favourite tune off the new Foreign Beggars EP, The Harder They Fall. Check their collaboration with Alix Perez too for some minimal dubstep business.

Slugabed - Moonbeam Rider

Here's the official video for Slugabed's 'Moonbeam Rider'. Definitely my favourite track off the release. Available now on Ninja Tune.

Look At Me Now (Monolithium's Look At Busta Re-Up) [Free Download]

Some bootleg footwork action from Monolithium. Check the SoundCloud page for a download.
