The Weeknd - The Knowing

Here's the first official music video from The Weeknd, and it's definitely not what I expected it to be. The whole film seems to be an allusion to the usurping of H.I.M. Selassie I and his loss of power in Ethiopia - except with aliens and spaceships and planets rending into two. The female character seems to represent Ethiopia, with The Weekend playing the part of H.I.M. Selassie I. The cut and paste, sliding, animated visuals make for a really, really unique video. It's not for everyone, but it's definitely original.

SBTRKT - Pharaohs ft. Roses Gabor

Some poppier vibes from SBTRKT and Roses Gabor. Love all the masks. Check it out!

The Weeknd - The Party & The After Party (Kastle Remix) [Free Download]

Here's a free ~130bpm dubstep refix of The Weeknd, courtesy of Kastle. I remember hearing him tease a bit of The Weeknd in at the Victoria Electronic Music Festival. Free download via Media Contender. Get on it!

L-Vis 1990 - Lost In Love

Here's some r&b-tinged house vibes from L-Vis 1990. The entire Neon Dreams album drops on PMR Records, 3 October.

The Weeknd - Thursday [Free Download]

I am so stoked for this one! House of Balloons has been on constant rotation since I first picked it up a few months back. If Thursday (the second instalment of a three part mixtape series) is anything like its predecessor, it's bound to be sick. Download Thursday here and be sure to checkout The Weeknd's website.

Kingdom - Take Me ft. Naomi Allen

Here's some forthcoming future r&b business from one of my favourite artists at the moment, Kingdom. I'm really feeling the summery smooth vocals from Naomi Allen (of Electrik Red) in this one. Available 26 July on Fool's Gold.

James Blake - Limit To Your Love

Definitely feeling the post-dubstep and future r&b styles being pioneered right now. There's been some great output from The Weeknd and Jamie xx, not to mention the numerous Ciara (Kingdom, Jacques Greene, etc.) and Brandy (Blawan) refixes coming out. James Blake has been making some huge waves in the U.K. This video is the first single from his self-titled album, available now on ATLAS.

The Weeknd - House of Balloons [Free Download]

If there's one name that's really make waves in forward-thinking r&b, it's The Weeknd. The Toronto native recently released House of Balloons, a free album loaded with his unique blend of sultry, spacey r&b vibes. For fans of James Blake and Drake.
