The other day I stopped into Union Tattoo Studios, just around the corner from my apartment, and made an appointment for this Saturday at 1pm. It will be my first tattoo, a Sanskrit rendition of the sacred Aum symbol, done on my inner left forearm. In Hindu literature it is seen as "the voice of God", the primal sound from which all mantras were born. It represents creation, balance, and eternity. The symbol Aum holds a lot of meaning to me, and I often find it turning up in my day to day experiences. I want the marks on my flesh to represent what I feel on the inside; this symbol will serve as an anchor, it will always be there. No matter what mantras I ascribe to in life, they all flow from the essence of Aum.
EZ.
